The Syrian American Medical Society (SAMS) is a non-profit, non-political organization. Our members are comprised of medical professionals of Syrian descent.

Objectives of SAMS encompass an array of professional, educational, humanitarian, and cultural activities. SAMS organizes an annual medical convention in Syria in order to enhance the medical expertise of our members, contributing to the Syrian medical profession and supporting the continuing medical education. SAMS affords its members the unique opportunity to bring the technologies of Western medicine to Syria while benefiting from the richness of our Syrian heritage.

SAMS also encourages and provides medical care to needy patients, in North America, of Syrian descent. We organize donations of medicine and medical supplies to underprivileged families in Syria and North America. Through our efforts, SAMS enables professional relationships between its members and medical organizations in North America and Syria, creating lasting and invaluable relationships.

Professional and Educational

• To organize the annual SAMS medical meeting both in North America and Syria.
• To enhance the medical knowledge of the members of SAMS, to contribute to the medical profession, and to support continuing medical education.
• To promote and organize professional relationships between SAMS members and medical organizations in North America and Syria.
• To create friendly relationships among American physicians of Syrian descent.
• To establish an official membership directory and a web page which can serve as a source of references and information.
  
  

Humanitarian

• To encourage and provide medical aid to needy patients of Syrian descent, and to organize donations of medicine and medical supplies to poor families in North America and Syria.
• To coordinate donations of routine and emergency medical care in support of those in need in Syria.
• To provide assistance to medical students and interns of Syrian descent.
• To sponsor speakers, textbooks and other learning materials for needy medical students in Syria.
  
  

Cultural Enhancement

•  To create activities and programs for SAMS members which highlights their shared Syrian Heritage and to foster a community spirit.
  
  

Establishment of Affiliated Chapters

• To aid in the establishment of chapters in various states when requested.
• The chapters must subscribe to the highest ethical standards and principles advocated by SAMS and those in the medical profession.
