A very energetic team of ten specialists in the fields of critical care, anesthesia, trauma surgery, emergency medicine, and infectious diseases provided lectures and hands on workshops to a group of 54 Syrian physicians, nurses and technicians who came from 6 different  governorate and represent 13 active medical groups.

The three day course offered sessions in Trauma in War Afflicted Zones, Basics of Critical Care, Post Operative Nursing Care, Principles of Infection Control and Antibiotics Selection, Regional and Epidural Anesthesia and courses in ATLS for adults and pediatrics, Shock Management, and Mechanical Ventilation. Many portable medical devices and medical supplies were distributed later to participants to be used in facilities inside Syria.

Participants took pre and post tests, and submitted evaluation forms of the mission. They also received a syllabus of the presentations in Arabic and a certificate acknowledging their newly acquired skills. At the end of the courses, the participants were offered the option to communicate directly with some instructors for medical consultation in the future.
This mission was a great success and SAMS looks forward to continuing this type of programming to help those brave doctors.
