Prior to becoming SAMS’ first executive director in June 2017, David Lillie served as a Peace Corps country director for six years in Morocco and Armenia. As a team leader and disaster operations specialist, David worked with USAID’s Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance for eight years, focusing  on Africa, Iraq, Afghanistan, disaster preparedness in Asia, and post-tsunami Sri Lanka. Following the Rwandan genocide, David served as country director with the American Refugee Committee in Rwanda and as its operation manager in refugee camps in DR Congo. He has a master’s degree in public administration from NYU and a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Wisconsin. David lives in Washington, DC, with his wife Tiffany and their two sons Mitchell and Kaden.
