Last week, an image of a dazed, bloodied 5 years old Omran Daqneesh in an ambulance seat shocked the world and ignited a global outrage. It was yet another haunting reminder of the scale of the Syrian conflict and the plight of the children of Syria. Like Omran, many children have known nothing but bombing, killing, and destruction. They have been born into a world no child should ever have to experience.

Omran was lucky. After receiving a treatment at a SAMS-supported underground hospital in eastern Aleppo City, Omran was discharged a few hours later. He is now doing well and living with relatives. However, his older brother, Ali Daqneesh, 11, wasn’t as fortunate. He died a day later from critical injuries sustained in the same airstrike.

Help SAMS Provide Critical Care for Children Like Omran

Omran’s story made headlines; however, many other suffering children went unseen.

Bayan, 6, and her toddler sister, Riham, 18 months, were injured in an airstrike that hit their home. Luckily, their cuts were relatively minor and they were discharged a few hours later.

Suad, 10, was severely injured in an airstrike in eastern Aleppo City. Her right leg was fractured and her left leg had to be amputated to save her life. Her younger brother was killed in the same aerial attack.

Ahmed, 10, was injured in a cluster bomb explosion that left him severely injured with shrapnel in his brain. The only CT scanner in Aleppo had previously been damaged in an attack on a SAMS-supported hospital. Unable to check Ahmad’s brain, our medical staff have referred him to a hospital along the border that will check his brain for injury.

The children of Syria need you. Help them receive the life-saving medical care they deserve.

Three of the five facilities SAMS supports in eastern Aleppo City provide trauma care, critical for the survival of those injured in the aerial campaigns over the city. In the first 7 months of 2016, SAMS has provided trauma care for 13,397 patients in Aleppo governorate alone.

Our medical personnel on the ground are working selflessly and tirelessly to save lives while risking their own. As attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure intensify, our hospitals have been overwhelmed.

Support our medical personnel.

We urge you to rush your generous donations to support many brave little hearts, like Omran, who are forced to live under bombs. All children deserve the right to be children. They deserve to live without fear, go to school, and receive the medical care they need. We must join together to care for the future of Syria.

You can still make a difference. Stand with Omran. Stand with the children of Syria. Stand for humanity.

Support the brave little hearts of Syria today.
